Hollow forms is a project by Dima Srouji, a Palestinian architect, designer, artist and educator. Dima designs beautiful glass vessels drawing from Palestinian glass blowing tradition and integrating it with contemporary design.
1 – Background
Dima reached out to me to “funk up” the existing Hollow Forms website with the use of animation.
2 – Creative direction
I suggested an animation that makes the images of the glass vessels distort like a liquid. The playfulness of the liquid effect went well with the spirit of the brand and the liquid form was also a reference to the production method of the glass vessels themselves.
3 – Implementation
Animations were implemented using Pixi.js with custom shaders.
