The motivation for the website makeover was to more effectively convey the pressing issues faced by West Papuans as well as the organisation’s unique role, which extends across diverse sectors, from education and healthcare to environmental stewardship and human rights. Focused on advocacy and targeting a broader UK audience, PP aimed to convey urgency and the need for support. They also wanted to move away from a 'church-oriented' feel and ensure the ease of website update and management by local Papuan staff.

The website spotlights diverse interventions and pressing issues faced by indigenous West Papuans. The design has an action-oriented feel, whilst prioritising good user experience and navigability.

The new brand identity designed by MakerChange evokes a modern and action-oriented feel. I integrated it into the web design focusing on clarity, user-friendliness, and navigability. I used a storytelling approach to present the vast amount of information on West Papua and the conflict in a digestible way. Visuals are used strategically to showcase the breadth of Papua Partners' work, focusing on human stories and the impact of interventions.

The vast amount of information on the West Papua and the conflict, is presented in a digestible way through a storytelling approach.

The website is built on Webflow, ensuring sustainability and simplicity for local Papuan staff managing maintenance of the blog.

A dedicated section for campaigners, providing resources for letter writing, petition sharing, and fostering partnerships with like-minded organisations in climate and humanitarian spheres.

“Joanna was the perfect person to work with when it came to building the new Papua Partners website; she is both logical and creative, extremely collaborative and good at working independently. As well as designing and building a website that perfectly responded to our brief, she provided a very useful training session to ensure we could manage the website ourselves, and was always on hand to help if we had any questions once it was up and running. Our board and partners are so pleased with the new website, which will be invaluable when it comes to raising awareness about the ongoing conflict in West Papua, and sharing ways that people can help. I would 100% recommend working with her again, it was an absolute pleasure."
